JobFit participants are progressing well through the programme with many gaining qualifications and finding employment. Below is just a handful of the many success stories of individuals.

Alex Reddington,
JobFit Castlebar

Alex left school following his Junior Certificate and went to work in the Construction Industry, due to the economic downturn he was made redundant and joined JobFit.

 

“With the assistance of my JobFit advisor I started to consider a career path in retail, a sector I have always had interest in.  A few weeks and the team in Castlebar helped me to secure and interview for a Store Assistant vacancy.”

“The employer agreed to give me a two week work placement, to see if I could handle been in a retail environment. During my placement I proved that I had the skills required for the role.”

“At the end of the work placement, I was offered a full time role with Cellular World.”

 Alex has made the transition to a different sector and is looking forward to technology training for new products.

Sinead Cockcroft,
JobFit Waterford

Sinead was unemployed for two and a half years before joining the JobFit programme, she wanted to gain employment and get help with her confidence.

 

“JobFit Waterford helped me rebuild my confidence and change my way of thinking about my ability to find work, and the confidence to look for work in different industries other than what I had been used to. They helped me with my interview skills which was a big thing for me as I’d never had an interview before.

“After my first interview I was successful and got a job in Tesco Ireland. Without JobFit I don’t think I would have had the confidence to even try and I had lost all hope.

“JobFit is vital for unemployed people and helps them get back to work full of confidence.”

Jimmy Keogh,
JobFit Limerick

Jimmy had been unemployed for over 3 months before joining the JobFit programme and was looking to start a course that would help him get back into mainstream employment.

 

“Once I started “Once I started with JobFit, I could tell that it was going to help me get a job.  In the first week I had already applied for a number of jobs that I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do previously.”
 
“Ten weeks on and the team in Limerick have helped me to secure a full-time position in O’Donnell Engineering as a Welder and I have also completed my Fetac Qualification in Computer Literacy.”

“Thanks to JobFit, I have a lot more confidence in myself and believe in myself more.  I now have a job and I am happier than I have been for a long time.”

Noel Maher,
JobFit Cork

Noel joined JobFit in November after reading about the programme in the Evening Echo. Noel had previously been working as a sole trader for Maher Plastering.

 

“From Start to finish my experience at JobFit Cork has been brilliant, when I started gaining FETAC 3 qualifications it made me look in the direction of further education.”

Noel is now attending a business management course in St. John’s College. 

“Without the help and guidance from the team in Cork, I’d still be doing nothing and going nowhere.”
