Wanted: Employers to help people get JobFit

Help unemployed people develop their skills and gain valuable experience.
Provide a work placement or job opportunity to a JobFit participant.

JobFit provides free support, employability training and recognised qualifications to help people to improve their skills and find a job. Work placements are a significant part of the JobFit programme.

Placements:
- Can last between one day and four weeks;
- Give participants real on-the-job experience;
- Give participants a valuable sense of the expectations of the
  employer and the challenges and satisfaction of the job.

Participants will retain their benefits as long as they continue to satisfy the criteria for their social welfare payment. There is no cost to the employer and JobFit participants are covered by TBG Learning’s insurance while on employers’ premises.

The JobFit approach to work placements
1. Participant commences training in relevant areas such as
    FETAC Work Preparation.
2. JobFit meets with employer to discuss placement opportunities
    and identifies suitable candidates.
3. Employer meets candidates to decide on suitability of match.
4. Work placement commences for the period as agreed with
    employer.

Benefits to employers
There is no obligation on the employer to continue beyond the period of the placement. However, if a vacancy arises, the employer can employ the JobFit participant, with no recruitment cost.

The Government’s new Employer Job (PRSI) Incentive Scheme may apply where an employer creates a new job and a candidate has been unemployed for six months or longer.
